Rivertown Church is located in Brattleboro in the southeast corner of Vermont. In early 2012, Ben and Kayla Whittinghill began to pray about where God was sending them in the Northeast, and He gave them a burden for the town of Brattleboro. Separately, Corey Ickes and his wife Ashlee saw a video from VTCP on Vermont’s need for the gospel, and God began to stir in their hearts at the mention of Brattleboro’s great need for Jesus. In His providence, God introduced the two couples and led them to unite together in making Jesus and His gospel known and watching Jesus plant and build His church in Brattleboro. God surrounded the Whittinghills and the Ickes with friends who were willing to leave the familiar behind for the sake of making disciples of Jesus in a post-Christian culture. Through much prayer, Rivertown Church began to take shape in the Spring and Summer of 2014 as those far from Jesus were being brought to life in Him. The church launched public worship gatherings in September 2014, and they rejoice at how God is moving as they pursue the vision He’s given them “to be disciples who make disciples of Jesus for the glory of God and the joy of all peoples”.
